THE BASICS

A planning application has been put in for 750 dwellings between Hill Corner Rise and The Morrison’s Roundabout (at the end of the dual carriageway A350 and change to B4158).

Residents are concerned for a number of reasons –

 

It takes away Green Space – part of the ‘lungs’ of the countryside that revive the town. This area is at the end of the Cotswold area with it’s undulating hills and stone walls, high green hawthorn hedges and buttercup meadows, as described by Kilvert in his diaries.

 

Impact of increased traffic flow – The impact of this development in isolation has been assessed using a proposed northern link road. Concerns that this will be completed as a gradual phasing with various house build lots means that traffic will be a few years above capacity.

 

The cumulative impact of this development with surrounding proposed developments is not modelled by developers or Wiltshire Council. LBRA have instructed a traffic survey for Langley Burrell and the B4069.

It was approved with conditions on 12th Feb 2016.
